Capo Dei Capi

“Capo dei Capi” is a compact, thematic two-player game designed by Steve Finn, set in the Prohibition-era underworld of the 1920s. Players assume the roles of rival mafia bosses, each trying to become the dominant force by gaining control over various districts and accumulating the most money.

The game is played using a set of custom dice, which players roll to perform actions such as collecting money, exerting influence, and controlling districts. Each turn, players must decide how to use their dice rolls to expand their influence across the city blocks on the game board, while also managing the risk of attracting the police. The police presence adds a press-your-luck element to the game, as too much heat can lead to raids and the loss of hard-earned money and control.

The game features a tug-of-war dynamic, with players continuously vying for the upper hand in different districts. Strategic decisions about when to push for control and when to consolidate resources are key to outmaneuvering the opposing boss. With quick gameplay and a balance of luck and strategy, “Capo dei Capi” offers a tightly contested battle for power in the criminal hierarchy of the Roaring Twenties.
