“Cthulhu: Death May Die” is a cooperative board game designed by Rob Daviau and Eric M. Lang. In the game, players take on the roles of investigators in the 1920s, working together to confront, fight, and hopefully stop an awakening Great Old One—a being from the Lovecraftian mythos. Each game session involves one of several episodic scenarios, each with its unique set of rules, story elements, and objectives. Players must balance the use of their characters’ strengths, managing sanity, and combat effectiveness as they face cultists, monsters, and otherworldly terrors. The overarching goal is to disrupt a ritual to summon the Great Old One, while avoiding being overwhelmed by madness and the chaotic forces unleashed during the game. The game is notable for its dynamic difficulty, which escalates as the characters’ insanity grows, leading to a climactic and often unpredictable finale.
