“Dominion: Intrigue” is an expansion to the original “Dominion” deck-building card game, designed by Donald X. Vaccarino. This expansion can be played as a standalone set or combined with the base “Dominion” game for an expanded deck-building experience. It introduces 25 new Kingdom card types to the game, which include a mix of victory cards that also perform other functions, as well as cards that allow for more interaction between players.
The “Intrigue” aspect is brought to life through cards that often give players choices—whether it’s choosing between different effects when a card is played or offering choices that affect both the player and their opponents. This adds a layer of strategy and decision-making that wasn’t as prominent in the original game. The expansion also adds the ability to play with up to 8 players when combined with the base game.
The themes of “Dominion: Intrigue” revolve around subterfuge, secret plots, and political maneuvering, reflecting the name of the expansion. It’s designed not only to enrich the “Dominion” experience with new content and strategic options but also to enhance the social and interactive aspects of the game by encouraging players to pay more attention to their opponents’ actions.
