“Welcome to the Dungeon” is a compact and engaging press-your-luck and bluffing card game designed by Masato Uesugi. In the game, 2 to 4 players take turns drawing monster cards and either adding them to the dungeon or passing and placing one of their pieces of equipment in the discard pile. The twist is that one brave or foolhardy hero will eventually have to face the monsters in the dungeon with whatever equipment remains.
As players draw cards, they must weigh the risk of what they’re adding to the dungeon against the dwindling resources their hero will have to face it. The bravado comes into play when deciding to pass or enter the dungeon, essentially daring the next player to take on the challenge with less equipment. A player wins by successfully defeating all the monsters in the dungeon and emerging with any amount of health or being the last player left after all others have been eliminated through failed dungeon runs.
“Welcome to the Dungeon” is a game of risk management and psychological play, where reading your opponents and knowing when to hold back or take a leap of faith can be the difference between victory and defeat.
